Nagpur: Sunday turned out to be a worrisome day as Nagpur district witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases as 262 persons tested positive for coronavirus that include 32 students from a private school at Hingna Road.
For the first time in the last four months, rural areas reported 100 cases while 162 tested positive for COVID-19 in the city. This has taken the cumulative positive cases to 5,81,250.
According to the Director of School, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has asked it to get their staff and students tested for coronavirus. Accordingly the samples were given for RTPCR. The school is yet to receive a report from the laboratory. The director came to know about the test results from the media.
With 118 persons becoming free from coronavirus in Nagpur district, it has taken the cumulative recovery to 5,69,690. District has succeeded in maintaining a recovery rate of 98.14%. Active cases kept rising and now it has reached 1,221. District reported 1,964 testing on Sunday. Nagpur rural registered 517 testing and city count standing at 1,447. The cumulative testing reached 56,99,638.
Number of persons taking treatment in various hospitals increased to 28 on Friday. Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has 9 patients while Meditrina, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), Railway Hospital, Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Ganga Care Hospital, Criticare have two patients each; Kingsway Hospital have 5 patients while Suretech Hospital and Central Avenue Critical Care Hospital have one patient each being treated.
