Nagpur: In a disgraceful incident that put Nagpur to shame, a four-year-old girl told her mother about her father’s sexually abusive acts with her, blowing the lid off her repeated exploitation over the last few days by the 34-year-old man, according to a report in a local daily.

The daily report further said that the father had left home with the daughter following a tiff with his wife on December 4. The man is learnt to have made undue advances towards the girl at different places where he took refuge in the night over the last few days when he was alone with the daughter.

After returning home, the survivor confided to her mother about her father’s abnormal behaviour when they were away. The stunned woman rushed her minor daughter to the neighbours as she was not able to believe her ears and comprehend what to do next. A social worker, who came to know about the daughter’s plight, alerted the police control room.

The call was diverted to the Child Protection Department and Child Helpline Desk, which swung into action along with the Mankapur Police Station under the supervision of DCP Lohit Matani. “We promptly acted to take the father into custody and also ensured the safety of the survivor. The medical examinations were promptly done too,” said Matani.

According to the report quoting a source from Mankapur Police Station, the four-and-half-year-old child, who may not understand the seriousness of the acts, openly spoke about her exploitation in front of the police and officials from the women and child development department.

An offence was registered against the father in the presence of District Child Protection Officer Mushtak Pathan and Childline Helpline representative Meenakshi Dhadade.

It’s learnt the woman had married the man, now behind bars, in Goa in 2018. They had shifted to Nagpur and later started staying with the man’s parents at their house within the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station. “The survivor also recalled various instances of her abuse by the father before the Childline Helpline representatives,” said the report.

As per the survivor’s mother, her husband was jobless and depended upon her earnings. He would often thrash her for money to consume liquor.

The Child Protection Department and police officials will present the survivor before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for the further course of action. In view of the tender age of the minor, she was allowed to remain with her mother by the child protection officer and police after the police complaint and medical examination formalities. The officials will now highlight the vulnerability of the child before the CWC on Monday.
