Nagpur: City shuttler Ritika Thaker and her mixed doubles partner Navaneeth Bokka’s campaign in the BNI Indonesia Master ended with the pre-quarter final defeat to local fifth seeded pair at Pekanbaru, Indonesia, on Thursday.
The 24-minute battle saw the Indonesian pair of Amri Syahnawi-Nita Marwah put up a dominating performance to oust Navaneeth Bokka-Ritika Thaker 21-11, 21-13.
The home pair didn’t take long to get going. From 3-all onwards in the first game, the match went southwards for the Indian pair as their rival kept on swelling the lead. From 9-7, the Indonesian pair won six consecutive points to take a 15-7 lead to eventually win the game 21-11.
The second game saw the Indian pair keep abreast with their rival in the initial phase. However, leading by two points at 13-11, the Indonesian pair upped their game at the right time to pocket seven consecutive points to surge to a 20-11 lead and close the pre-quarterfinal match.
