Nagpur: The Smart City Mission Office of the Central Urban Development Department located in New Delhi has extended the stalled tender process related to Nagpur Smart City till July 31. This decision has now opened the way for development works worth Rs 72 crore. The said decision was taken after the initiative by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Remember that Mauja-Bharatwada, Punapur, Pardi project is being implemented under Smart City. While roads beautification of all grounds, fire stations, skill development centres and other works worth Rs.72 crore to be carried out in in Mauja-Punapur, Bharatwada and Pardi were in the tender process.
Before March, the Central Government had directed to issue post-tender work orders for all smart city projects in the country, but the Nagpur Smart City Management did not complete the tender process in time. So the Smart City Mission Management faced the cancellation of the tender.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was apprised of the above developments. Gadkari then wrote a letter to Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri requesting him to grant the extension. He also met Kunal Kumar, Union Joint Secretary and Director of Smart City Mission in New Delhi. After this, the work of beautification of parks and grounds, smart police stations, e-toilets, fire stations, skill development centres, internal roads will be started soon after getting the extension.
