Nagpur Soars to New Heights: Inauguration of Aviation Hub Marks Milestone in City’s Development

Nagpur – Nagpur, known as the city of oranges, is making strides towards becoming not only the most developed city in the country but also globally recognized. The inauguration of the aviation hub at MIHAN, a project aimed at creating employment opportunities in Vidarbha, was officiated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari. The event marked the completion of C-checks for 100 aircraft, emphasizing the significance of this achievement.

Central Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was present at the ceremony, along with key figures such as Pramod Mahajan, CEO of AAR-Indamer, Prajay Patel, COO of AAR-Indamer, Peter Alberg, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, S.C. Gupta, Vice President (Engineering) of IndiGo, Laurie Elder, Head of Customer Service for Airbus in South Asia, and former mayor Vijay Darda.

Mr. Gadkari highlighted, “India’s domestic aviation industry ranks third globally, with a growth rate of 22 percent. In the aviation sector, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) is of utmost importance, necessitating the development of new technologies. Future focus should include bio-aviation fuel research.” He emphasized the need for collaboration between colleges offering aviation and aeronautical engineering programs and industries, foreseeing the employment of skilled individuals in the MRO sector.

The Minister concluded, “To meet the future demands, we must consider courses in aviation and aeronautical engineering in colleges, aligning with the needs of MRO industries. This will ensure the availability of a skilled workforce, fostering the growth of the aviation sector.
