Nagpur: On Monday, Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district recorded a scorching 47.1 degrees Celsius, marking the highest temperature in Maharashtra, an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported.
The heatwave extended across several areas in the Vidarbha region, with temperatures consistently exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. In Nagpur, the mercury hit a blistering 45.6 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the state. Other areas also experienced severe heat, with Amravati and Wardha both recording 45.0 degrees, Chandrapur 44.8, Bhandara and Gondia 44.5, Gadchiroli 44.0, Yavatmal 42.5, Akola 42.2, and Washim 41.2 degrees Celsius.
IMD Nagpur has forecasted that the heatwave conditions will continue, with particularly high temperatures expected in Chandrapur, Akola, and Yavatmal on Tuesday, and in Akola again on Wednesday. Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat.
