Nagpur: After a gap of two years, Vidarbha Cricket Association’s Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur will once again host a men’s international cricket match. The BCCI on Thursday announced its senior men’s team’s itinerary from September 19 to February 12. VCA will be hosting the first of the three One-Day Internationals against England on February 6, a report in a local daily said.

The last time VCA Jamtha hosted an international match was way back in February 2023 when India hosted Australia in a Test match. The last time an ODI played at Jamtha Stadium was way back in 2019 when India defeated Australia in the second T20 international. Australia were restricted at 90-5 (8 overs) in a rain-curtailed game which India overhauled in 7.2 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 46 from 20 deliveries which had four boundaries and as many sixes.

During the home season later this year, India will be playing two Tests against Bangladesh at Chennai and Kanpur and will then host New Zealand for a three-match series in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai. Apart from these five Tests, India will also play eight T20Is and three ODIs at home. Against Bangladesh, they will play three T20Is while against England there will be a full-fledged series of five T20Is and three ODIs between January 22 and February 12.

Apart from Nagpur, the other two ODIs against England will be played at Cuttack (Feb 9) and Ahmedabad (Feb 12). The Jamtha Stadium has been revamped and the entire soil of the ground is replaced. The centre wickets have also been redone. Last year, all the domestic matches were played at the old stadium in Civil Lines.
