Nagpur: Two workers of Khaperkheda Tharmal Power Station (KTPS) were crushed to death when counter weight of the Stacker Reclaimer machine fell down in the coal handling section of the power plant here, in the wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Meshram (30), Praveen Shende (35), both residents of Koradi.

According to police sources, the incident occurred at around 2 am. The duo were handling coal when counter weight of the Stacker Reclaimer machine fell down and bludgeoned them to death. Following the incident the officials of KTPS rushed to the spot. Both employees were subsequently rescued and were rushed to hospital, however, the doctor had declared them brought dead.
In the meantime, a departmental inquiry has been launched by KTPS and Koradi cops have registered an offence of accidental death. Further investigations are on.
