Nagpur: The last date for enrolment of graduates for election of 10 registered graduates to the senate has been extended by the Nagpur University to September 5. However, according to the data available, enrolment of women for voting is quite less in number. The reason behind is the fact that several registrations have been declared invalid as the women candidates have mentioned post marital surname in the application form while the degrees and other documents contain their maiden name. As a result, there is a mismatch of names because of which, the registrations have been cancelled.
University, on its website, has released a notification to resolve the issue. It states that the women, who are giving their post marital surname, need to submit any official document supporting the change in name. It can be an affidavit or university’s notification approved for name change as well. The last date to submit this is till August 31.
The process of online registration was started from 12th July which was to continue till 11th August. However, due to problems faced by students in registration, the last date has been extended twice till now. This time, the applicants need to fill the forms online and submit the print outs along with the fee at the university office. But, after several complaints of problems faced in download of ‘printouts’ of the application form, the date had to be extended.
The university has launched a separate portal www.rtmnuelection2017.org for the registration and guidelines. Graduates need to apply to the registrar in the prescribed form and supporting documents.
