Nagpur: Known for its burgeoning aviation sector, the second capital of the state recently hosted a significant milestone in the aviation industry. The Boeing 737 MAX plane with registration VT-BXV underwent a remarkable transformation, now adorned with Air India MRO colors and a distinctive state-specific designer livery.
This makeover marks a strategic move by Air India Express to expand its fleet with 55 Boeing 737 MAX8 aircraft, originally slated for Chinese carriers such as Shanghai Airlines, China Eastern, and Air China. The decision to customize the aircraft with a state-specific livery underscores Air India Express’ commitment to regional identity and cultural representation.
It is pertinent to mention that Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in Nagpur is also poised to support the world’s leading commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, using metallic components manufactured at the MIHAN facility. TASL shared this information through a video post on the social networking site X, highlighting their role in delivering high-volume metallic components crucial for these top-tier aircraft programs.
TASL’s contribution, along with the transformation of VT-BXV in Nagpur, highlights the city’s growing importance in the aviation sector, supported by its advanced infrastructure and skilled workforce. This development not only enhances Air India Express’ operational capabilities but also positions Nagpur as a pivotal hub for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services in the country.
