Nagpur: A young man from Nagpur, Tushar Sudhir Yewale (24), took his own life by consuming poison after allegedly being harassed by a childhood friend, the son of a police officer. Despite efforts to save him, Tushar passed away on Saturday while undergoing treatment. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Hudkeshwar police station, where a case of accidental death has been registered.
Tushar’s father, Sudhir Yewale, who works in the electricity department, had recently sold a plot of land in Mouza Kamthi, earning a substantial amount of money. This information reached Tushar’s childhood friend, Gopi (name changed), who was in need of funds to open a café. Gopi, knowing about the recent sale, approached Tushar for financial help, promising to repay the money soon and even provided a blank cheque as security. Trusting his old friend, Tushar convinced his father to transfer ₹11.7 lakh to Gopi’s account.
However, soon after, the café shut down, and Gopi moved to Mumbai. When Tushar began asking for the money back, Gopi made excuses, promising to repay him by selling the café. But days turned into weeks, and Gopi continued to avoid returning the money. Eventually, he stopped answering Tushar’s calls altogether.
Unable to cope with the stress and betrayal, Tushar consumed poison. His death has left the community in shock, and the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
