Nagpur: Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Bhimrao Patil, presently posted at Nagpur, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service on the eve of the 75th Republic Day.
Having an unblemished career in the police force, Patil has served in the areas where the immediate past communal disturbances had taken place like Sangamner, Chopda as Deputy Superintendent of Police (immediately after communal riot at Adavad). As Additional Superintendent of Police, he worked at Malegaon from July 2007 to December 2009 in the backdrop of 2006 and 2008 bomb blasts.
As Superintendent of Police, he worked at communally sensitive district of Nandurbar. He was instrumental in maintaining communal harmony at these places. For his outstanding work, he was conferred with the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award instituted by the Department of Minorities, Government of Maharashtra in 2015. While posted in Nandurbar, Patil had undertaken different measures to increase the conviction rate.
During his tenure, the conviction rate had touched 45 per cent in 2019. During his tenure as Foreigners’ Registration Officer and Passport Officer in Pune during 2014-2016, he was successful in bringing down passport application processing time drastically. Pune Commissionerate got the highest Passport Incentive Fund in Maharashtra during this period. He undertook various measures in facilitating various services to foreigners.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea was pleased to note his sincerity and respect commanded among Korean citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, South Korea offered him a visit to their country in 2015 in recognition of this work. A recipient of DG’s insignia, Patil during his present tenure as Additional CP (Crime) in Nagpur is instrumental in increasing MCOCA and MPDA cases and making the first PIT-NDPS case.
