Nagpur: The Ajni Railway Station is soon to be upgraded to world-class standards. The construction work on this building, which has been ongoing for the past two years, is set to be completed, and the current structure will be ready by February 15. The work for the ground floor of the second terminal building towards the west of the Ajni station has been completed. The construction of foot overbridges has also commenced. Currently, the station has three platforms, with an additional four platforms planned to be constructed. Once both buildings are completed, the station’s passenger capacity is expected to increase to 44,000 per day. Notably, the redevelopment work for the Ajni Railway Station began in 2023 and is slated for completion by May 2025.
In the interim, efforts are underway to integrate Ajni Station with the metro station. This involves making alterations to the metro buildings. Once this link is established, passengers can directly reach Ajni Station via the metro, eliminating the need for any inconvenience.
