It came as a shock to almost everyone, hearing the news of ShwetaBasu Prasad being caught for prostitution, who played the memorable child protagonist in double role in critically acclaimed Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Makdee’, sharing the frame with legendary actress Shabana Azmi. Shweta also played a prominent part in another much lauded flick ‘Iqbal’! Then what must’ve hauled her into such a vicious act, left for everyone to wonder!
Nagpur Today delves deeper into the issue, quizzing city’s aspiring people from the glamworld to have their views on the news.
Parinita Niwal: An immature move..!
Parinita Niwal, an Actress cum Model said, “I’m working for a Hindi movie right now, all about friendship. My journey till here wasn’t simple. But somehow, shortcuts don’t work for me! Things like prostitution are shortcuts to improve lifestyle! When you actually struggle, you need money primarily. Professionally there is no connection between entering into such vicious acts, and your work. This is all about short-cut money. Girls in this field need fame, they want to get themselves published in PR stuff, and no such things are easily possible without money. Such things are taken up to elevate ones career and fame, which is wrong.
But honestly, when you possess genuine talent, people would really care about your talent, and not your name and fame.
Entering into prostitution is a completely immature decision. No personal comments anyone should make, but for a girl like Shweta, who has done really classy movies, with stars like Shreyas Talpade and Shabana Azmi, should’ve waited for a correct time, instead of walking on such path! No destination is ‘success’on such paths! However, no one knows about her personal life and problems, so one should not be judgmental as well about her.”
Lopamudra Raut: Not everything bad
Lopamudra Raut, Miss India Goa’2013, and Miss India top 4th winner’2014 said, “I’ve just completed Engineering and will soon be a part of an upcoming reality show. Hence, I’ve not seen the ‘world of modeling’ much. I don’t know what models go through really. It’s a human nature, especially for girls who do not want to work hard, to seek shortcuts. I don’t know what this girl was going through. Might be she was forced into prostitution, but I feel that’s not the case.
In every field and profession, there are girls who seek success the much easier way. It happens in every field, but this doesn’t mean every field is bad. There are modelswho are addicted to drugs, and when not able to hold the expenditure, they step into something like this.So I bluntly feel, drugs might have been a reason for Shweta to enter prostitution.
To hear such incident is really sad. However, I’ve even seen girls decent and focused enough for acting and modeling, which is the cliché.
Imran Khan: Lure for quick buck!
Imran Khan, Fashion Choreographer added, “Firstly, in entertainment field, when girls start working from a tender age, especially small town girls, they tend to get really fascinated by the showbiz and start seeking easy money. They want to go clubbing, they get money in hand and get habitual of it. Hence by the time, the vampire has already tasted blood! Infact, when some girls, who have always shopped on fashion streets, suddenly start shopping at Prada, Gucci, etc and theirdesire increases to an irreversible extent. Also, they now wish to come in the limelight, for which they need money. The more a girl is famous, the more is her price value, that’s what is thought in this field.
In addition, their family expectations, standing by the race of society, under such pressures, they ought to get into prostitution.”
Ananya Kapoor: It’s personal choice…no comments….
Ananya Kapoor, a City Model said, “I take modeling as a hobby, so I feel in this case, the reason behind Shweta entering prostitution cannot be pressure. I cannot comment on her life, because it’s personal. But I feel no talented and sensible girl would ever take such steps. One should use their beauty and brains wisely, not by entering into something so wrong.
