Nagpur’s celebrity chef Manohar cooks 7,000 kg ‘Ram Halwa’ in Ayodhya

Nagpur: Celebrity chef from Nagpur, Vishnu Manohar, achieved a remarkable feat on Monday — Shiv Jayanti — by cooking 7,000 kg ‘Shri Ram Bhog Halwa’ in Hanuman Garhi Akhara’s Shri Hanumat Sanskrit PG College in Ayodhya (UP).

Thousands of devotees present at the Hanuman Gadhi accepted the ‘prasad’. After worshiping the stove at 7 am amidst chanting of mantras and resonating sound of conch shell, Vishnu Manohar started making ‘Shri Ram Bhog Halwa’. He wore special clothes with the name ‘Ram’ written on them, inspired by the concept ‘Kar Seva Se Pak Seva’.

The devotees recited ‘Ramraksha’ 11 times. In the atmosphere full of devotion, the chef made the colossal sweet offering utilized 700 kg semolina, 800 kg ghee, 1,120 kg sugar, 4,500 litres of water, 21 kg each of cardamom and nutmeg powder, 250 dozen bananas and a staggering 200 kg of assorted dry fruits in a giant 10×10 feet pan. It took four hours for him to prepare7,000 kg of ‘Shri Ram Bhog Halwa’. After this, he offered it to Shri Ram in the Ram Temple and Shri Hanuman at Hanuman Gadhi.

Shri 108 Mahant Premdas Maharaj of Hanuman Gadhi Ayodhya Dham, Mahant Shri Muralidas Maharaj of Ani Akhara, National President of Sankatmochan Sena Sanjay Das Maharaj, Dr Mahesh Das, Hemant Das, Mahant Shri Santram Das, Ramshankar Das, Nandram Das, Rajesh Pehalwan, Satyadev Das, Upendra Das, Maniram Das Pehalwan, Mama Das, Lavkush Das, Indradev Das Pehalwan, Laxman Das Maharaj, and others were present prominently. They appreciated Manohar’s effort.

On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj birth anniversary, Raghavendra Deshpande of Kala Ram Mandir paid tribute to Shivaji Maharaj in his address. Fifty members of Tuljabhavani Kalsubai Trek Group from Pune also joined in and performed pooja of the idol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Parikshit Thorat from Pune, a team of 50 members from Nagpur, VishnuManohar’s associates from America, 4,000 devotees from Dhule district of Maharashtra also took part in this initiative and received ‘prasad’.
