Nagpur: Nagpur’s famous tea-seller Dolly Chaiwala has become a celebrity in his own right and a recent incident at an airport, as narrated by India’s hockey star Hardik Singh, proves just this. At the airport, where the players from the Indian hockey team – fresh off their bronze finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics – and Dolly Chaiwala were present, something unexpected happened. People flocked to Dolly Chaiwala instead of the hockey champions for selfies. Singh recalled the incident on a podcast, adding that the incident left the team embarassed.

“I saw it with my own eyes, at the airport. Harmanpreet (Singh), I, Mandeep (Singh); there were 5-6 of us. Dolly chaiwala was also there. People were getting themselves clicked with him and did not recognize us. We started looking at each other,” said the 26-year-old on the podcast.

“Harmanpreet has scored more than 150 goals, Mandeep has more than 100 field goals,” he asserted.

About Dolly Chaiwala
Dolly Chaiwala went crazy viral on the Internet after serving tea to Bill Gates in Hyderabad. Since then, he has become a popular figure, frequently appearing on talk shows and at public events. Recently, a vlogger from Kuwait, hoping to feature him on his show, revealed the steep price tag attached to inviting this tea-slinging sensation.

“Do you know how much this guy – Dolly Chaiwala – charges? 2,000 dinars. So 5 lakh rupees. That’s roughly around 2,000 or 2,500 KD. That’s not it,” said food blogger who goes by AK Food Vlog online.

He added, “2,500 KD, plus one more person will come with him. 4 or 5 star hotel booking. He literally told me that. He wasn’t talking to me, his manager was talking to me…. And this is for one day.”

The tea-seller, who goes by Dolly Ki Tapri Nagpur on Instagram, now has over 4.4 million followers who look forward to watch videos of him brewing and serving chai on a cart in his signature style. He also posts videos of himself interacting with fans on the Meta-owned platform.
