Nagpur: City girl Poorti Arya has now gone places with her acting skills and is all set to represent Nagpur with her upcoming film ‘Jalebi’. The movie’s trailer has already caught up with cine lovers and has become an instant rage. Directed by – Pushpdeep Bhardwaj and Produced by – Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, Jalebi will see Poorti playing Renu. Besides, Poorti is also a part of a unique show Internet Wala Love being aired on Colors TV.
In a free wheeling conversation with Nagpur Today Poorti shared her experience and journey so far. Let’s catch up on that.
Q. Where have you done your schooling from?
A- I have done schooling from Centre Point School Katol road till 8th standard after which I moved out to Sanjeevan Vidyalay Panchgani to complete my further studies after which I pursued my career in Fashion Styling from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kharghar Navi Mumbai.
Q. Who inspired you towards acting?
A. When I completed my education and was working for many renowned Marathi shows as a fashion stylist for Colors Marathi it was when I realized that I had a keen interest in acting. It gives me immense pleasure and joy to represent My city name here with my acting in the industry.
Q. Tell us about your struggle?
A. I used to go in a lot of auditions for many different shows. One thing all the budding artist need to understand is that it is all about destiny. We only have to be patient and work hard to realise our dreams. Struggle is a part of life.
Q. Is it difficult to survive for newcomers in the industry?
A. One should always figure out what they are capable of and what they want. To grow in the field it requires constant patience, hard work and struggle. More than quantity it is quality that speaks more. In this industry there is a wide range of opportunities waiting for all but it only requires patience.
Q. Tell us about your character in the upcoming movie Jaleebi?
A. I am portraying a character of Dev’s Sister which is played by Varun Mitra.
I am very honored to work for such renowned production house under the banner of Mahesh Bhatt and all my co-stars. I have learnt many good things from them.
Q. Any special memory of Nagpur?
A. I love traffic park and we used to visit the place frequently to chill for hours and chatter with friends. As Nagpur is my birth place I miss everything of this city.
Q. What are you hobbies besides acting?
A. I love playing badminton and have won many tournaments as well and I also have a keen interest in singing.
Q. In terms of opportunities, is Mumbai different than Nagpur?
A. As we all know Mumbai is the heartland for actors as here we get many great opportunities and breaks in the industry. While in Nagpur if one wants to lead a stable life we can always turn towards the city.
Q. Any upcoming projects?
A. As I am working in Internet Wala Love I have my interest in TV commercials and web series as well and hoping to do more of such venture in near future.
Q. Any message to the budding actors?
A. Always believe in yourself and be patient as opportunities will visit to your doorstep one day as one should always work hard to achieve it. Explore more, and give auditions frequently and do not get stuck in a moment as you may skip another opportunity.
