Nagpur’s Pyare Khan appointed as State Minorities Commission chief

Nagpur: Minorities Development Department of Maharashtra Government has appointed Nagpur’s Pyare Jiya Khan as Chairperson of Maharashtra State Minorities Commission. Pyare Khan is Chairman of Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Trust.

M P Shenoy, Deputy Secretary to Government, issued a notification regarding Pyare Khan’s appointment on July 3. Vide the same notification, Dr Chetan Kheraj Dedhia from Mulund West (Mumbai) as Vice-Chairperson of the Commission. Both the appointments shall be in effect for a period of five years from the date they assume their respective office.

In a press release issued on Thursday, Pyare Khan thanked Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister; Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Ministers; Abdul Sattar, Minority Welfare Minister; Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State BJP chief; Pravin Datke, MLC; Mohan Mate, Krishna, Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare, MLAs, for the appointment.

Pyare Khan stated that he would work for economic, educational, and cultural development of minorities. The work on Islamic Cultural Centre (Urdu Ghar) in North Nagpur will be started soon. He appreciated BJP for appointing minority representatives on various bodies in the last 10 years. In contrast, the MVA Government including Congress and other parties had not made any appointment during their rule in Maharashtra. Besides, he stated, these parties had not given any representation to the minority community in Legislative Council polls.
