Nagpur: Ritu Maloo, the accused in the fatal Ram Jhula accident case, was produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class ( JMFC) A V Khedkar by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 5 pm on Tuesday. Khedkar remanded Maloo to police custody until October 10.
The production warrant was issued to the CID at 11:30 am on Tuesday, after which the CID team went to Nagpur jail to take Maloo into custody. However, the jail administration handed her over to the CID at 4.30 pm. Following this, the CID detained Maloo from the jail and produced her in the court at 5 pm.

Adv Amol Hunge submitted a plea in the court stating that the jail administration had delayed Maloo’s remand. Meanwhile, Maloo’s identification parade was conducted in jail on Monday. Eyewitnesses Mayuresh Bhushan Dadve and Ankit Shamsingh Khiche identified Maloo before NaibTehsildar Deepa Ambade and the Police Inspector of the CID.
On February 25 this year, Maloo, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, drove her Mercedes car at high speed on Ram Jhula and killed two youngsters.
