Nagpur: A 15-year old girl who ran away from home in Nagpur in July has been successfully traced by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Nagpur Police.
The girl, who had been living with her construction worker parents at a local site, went missing on July 4. A missing complaint was lodged by her parents with Beltarodi police. The AHTU launched a comprehensive investigation and analysed footage from railway and bus stations in an effort to find any leads. Despite their thorough efforts, the team was unable to locate her for four months.
The breakthrough came last week when the girl managed to call her parents, who informed the police. Using the phone number provided, investigators traced her location to Cuttack, Odisha. A police team was quickly dispatched to the area and utilized mobile phone surveillance to successfully locate the teenager. After ensuring her safety and providing necessary counseling, the police returned the girl to her parents in Nagpur through the Beltarodi Police Station.
The operation involved WPI Lalita Todase, PSI Madhukar Kathoke, and ASI Rajendra Atkale, among others.
