Nagpur News : A two-day national youth convention, organised by the All India progressive Forum (AIPF), was inaugurated at Hislop college here on Monday.
The panel of guests included renowned athlete of the city, Monica Raut, vice- chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU)Vilas Sapkal, president of vocational teachers association and organsing secretary for the convention, Dr Yugal Rayalu and principal of Hislop college, Dr Dipti Christian.
Chief guest at the function, Monica Raut while speaking on the occasion, exhorted youth that dedication and hardwork will help overcome roadblocks. She said, “I hail from an economically weak background but that was never a deterrent. Youth should always fight against the odds.”
Dr Yugal Rayalu in his address said, “People in India are frustrated with the current leadership which is why thousands took to the streets in Delhi expressing their dissatisfaction with the government”. He also said that it was only by strengthening the people of India that the nation could become a superpower. He added AIPFconvention is a platform for the intellectuals where solutions are devised for different issues that the youth face today.
Dr Dipti Christian emphasised that youth play a vital role in gender justice. Vice-chancellor of RTMNU, Dr Vilas Sapkal remarked that young leaders of India have made a global impact. “This is the decade of innovation and youth is a tank full of innovative ideas” he said.
Emphasising that youngsters hold the key to development of the nation, he sugestted,”young people should not only talk about problems but also try to offer solutions for various issues.” This country can develop even in the era of recession. Self-employment is the next revolution. He advised youngsters to aim at the highest point in their chosen field and proceed in a planned manner. Topics that will be discussed in the two-day convention are youth and issues today, youth and religion, youth and health, youth media and gender justice, youth and politics.
