Maoists set government forest on fire in Nagpur

Nagpur: Jolted by gunning down of dozens of their cadre recently, the Naxalites continue to indulge in violence in vengeance act. The left extremists on Thursday set a forest depot at Mulchera in Gadchiroli district ablaze inflicting losses in crores.

According to sources a group of armed Naxals torched depot of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM) before erecting banners in protest of Kasnasur and Ipenta encounters. The Maoists also thrashed the security personnel deployed at the depot before forcing him to part with the documents related to the work going on at the depot.

The left extremists hurled pamphlets near the depot voicing their anger against the security forces. Through these banners and pamphlets, Naxals asked the people to observe one-day all-Maharashtra bandh on Friday, May 25. The ultras have also urged the people to observe the period between May 19 and 25 as ‘Resistance Week’ to protest the killing of their cadre in encounter with security forces.
