Nagpur: In a new twist, investigation into the murder of 25-year-old Priya Bagde of Nagpur revealed that she had been in contact with a person living in the United Kingdom (UK), with whom she was virtually married and had changed her name to Priya Gluck. This revelation has come as a shock to Nagpur police, who are delving deeper into the case.
According to police sources, Priya was active on Facebook and met 70-year-old John Gluck through social networking sites in 2023. Since then, they had been continuously chatting, and their relationship blossomed to the point where they virtually married and frequently engaged in video calls. The relationship progressed to the point where John began sending money to Priya for her monthly maintenance.
Sources claimed that John was sending more than Rs 20,000 per month to Priya. The police discovered that John was a retired individual living alone in the United Kingdom. They are currently searching for his address to continue their investigation. Sources also reported that Mahesh Keshavrao Wadaskar, the owner of the Turning Point hotel and lodge in Ramtek, was upset upon learning of Priya’s connection with John. It was particularly demoralizing for him that Priya changed her Facebook profile name from Priya Bagde to Priya Gluck.
It is noteworthy that Priya was brutally murdered by Wadaskar, a resident of Sakkardara, on August 16 at his hotel. He later buried her body about five kilometres away from Ramtek town. The police have produced Wadaskar in court and obtained a five-day police custody order.
Body exhumed, involvement of more persons suspected:
Mankapur police have exhumed Priya Bagde’s body, which was buried by accused Wadaskar, and sent it for post-mortem. Police suspect that more individuals might be involved in the murder, as it seems unlikely that a single person could have dug a large pit and buried the body alone.
