NMC allots space in Children’s Traffic Park to NGO Janakrosh

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has allotted space at Dnyanyogi Dr Shrikant Jichkar Children’s Traffic Park, Dharampeth, to Janakrosh, an NGO, to instil training on traffic rules among drivers.

Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari on Wednesday toured the park and inspected it and directed officials of the civic body to carry out necessary repair works. The NGO is going to provide free of cost training on traffic rules to school children, collegians and citizens alike. Also the drivers of school and college buses would be provided training on safe driving.

Ravindra Kaskhedikar, Founder Secretary, Janakrosh, said the training programme would start from July 14 onwards. Officers who have retired from various Government establishments would offer their services for ensuring that traffic discipline is instilled among citizens. The Municipal Commissioner hoped that schools would arrange trips of children to the traffic park where the Janakrosh team would provide tips on traffic rules.

It is absolutely necessary to obey the traffic rules while driving a vehicle on the road and Children’s Traffic Park can play a vital role in the same. He directed officials to repaint the zebra crossings and also repair the toys that were installed for children. The park should be tidied up and lavatories should be cleaned and the garbage lifted from the park.

Anil Joshi, Vishwanath Pande, Sanjay Dabli, Shyam Pohane, Ramesh Lokhande, Girish Deshpande, Vivek Amin, R B Pahune, Sadhna Patki, Prashant Dharmadhikari and Raja Agrawal, all from Janakrosh; along with officials of NMC including Dr Ranjan Lade and Prakash Varade, both Deputy Commissioners, Amol Chourpagar, Garden Superintendent, Rajendra Rathod, Executive Engineer (Electrical), Vijay Gurubaxani, EE, PWD, Dharampeth Zone, and others were present during the visit of Commissioner.
