NMC and GVF Observed Earth Hour

Nagpur : Nagpur Municipal Corporation & Green Vigil Foundation commemorated Earth Hour on 23 rd March from 8.30 to 9.30 pm at World Trade Center, Sitabuldi and various other shops at Sitabuldi Nagpur.

Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF).
The event is held annually, encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential lights and electric gadgets , for one hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., as a symbol of commitment to the planet. It was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. This year Earth Hour is being celebrated in 190 countries across the world.

Inspired by the concept of Earth Hour, the then mayor of Nagpur, had initiated Poornima Diwas Campaign, which is being conducted by Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Green Vigil Foundation on every Poornima day since 2014.

Members of Green Vigil Foundation interacted with shopkeepers, citizens and all stake holder groups about climate change , global warming ,climate action, energy conservation, shifting to renewable energy sources, adopting low carbon lifestyles & green living practices, etc.

During Earth Hour Campaign, the electrical appliances of World Trade Center, as well as several shops at Sitabuldi were turned down by 70%. The campaigns received huge support from Sitabuldi Merchant Association too.

Dignitaries present during the campaign were Manish Soni, PRO, NMC, Kaustav Chatterjee, Founder Green Vigil Foundation and others.

Members of Green Vigil Foundation, Goel Ganga group, Atul goel, Managing Director, Anup Khandelwal, Rajdeep Bhalerao, Sachin Ninave, Sitabuldi merchant association Kishan agrawal, Kishan gangwani, Pradip gupta, Hussain Ajani, Rajeev jain, Hussain Ajani, Rajeev jain, Jagdish arora, Yogi Panchpor Surbhi Jaiswal ( Team Lead), Mehul Kosurkar(Deputy Team Lead), Sheetal Choudhary, Bishnudeo Yadav, Shriya Jogey, Priya Yadav, Tushar Deshmukh, Kajal Pilley, Anuj Shrivastava, Staff of Electrical Department of NMC, Gajendra Tarapure, Pradip Khobragade, Sachin fate, Biplov bhagat, Vishal Sheware worked hard for the success of the campaign.
