Nagpur: Beware!! Especially, those who are illegally fetching water without legal/ metered water connection or people who are deliberately fetching water supply from two water supply lines (commonly known as double lines) at their residences.
After giving opportunities and reminders several times earlier, now the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have also embarked on a massive disconnection/recovery drive against illegal consumers as well as those consumers who are deliberately taking water from double line connections, all over city (In all 10 zones).
It must be mentioned here along with disconnection drive NMC-OCW have also recently started an ‘Asset Seizure’ drive against water tax defaulters. Under this drive, the consumers who are disconnected for non-payment of water dues and still haven’t paid their water tax may face ‘asset seizing’.
Meanwhile, in a disconnection/recovery drive which started in last week of November 2015, wherein in a stern action NMC-OCW disconnected over 1062 household illegal connections as well as disconnected 308 double lines (till Februray 15, 2016).
During this period (Upto Feb 15, 2016) -OCW disconnected 140 illegal consumers from Laxmi Nagar zone, 21 from Dharampeth zone, 64 from Hanuman Nagar Zone, 51 from Dhantoli zone, 385 from Nehru Nagar zone, 101 from Gandhibagh, 31 from Satranjipura, 119 from Lakadganj, 141 from Asi Nagar and 9 from Mangalwari zone.
06, 659 from Mangalwari zone during the drive.
Giving special focus on thousands of unregistered (illegal) water connections in the city, NMC and OCW has started such disconnection/ recovery drive every day in each zone. It may be recalled here that to bring all these illegal consumers back in legal network, earlier, NMC-OCW had recently conducted a special drive to regularize unregistered water connections during 1st to 31st July. The drive was then extended till August 15.
During drive OCW-NMC had appealed unregistered water consumers to co-operate with the officials approaching them for regularization. Also, if the officials have not yet approached, then to visit nearest zone office with necessary documents and get the connection regularized.
Meanwhile, NMC-OCW has appealed the consumers to extend necessary cooperation to the officers visiting them for regularization. Also, if they have not yet been approached by any of the officers, they should contact their respective zone office and submit the necessary documents to get the unauthorized connections regularized.
It must be mentioned here, having an authorized/registered water connection is a matter of pride for every vigilant citizen. NMC and OCW officials have requested the citizens of Nagpur to co-operate during these drives and grab this golden opportunity to get the connections regularized.
OCW-NMC has appealed citizen/ consumers to pay the water bill on scheduled time to avoid any kind of inconvenience or problems. The bill payment facility is available at all Customer Service Centre located at zonal offices of NMC-OCW. The bills can also be paid through online payment facility which can be availed from NMC website www.nmcnagpur.gov.in or OCW website www.ocwindia.com.
