24-hours Governor House MBR (Raj Bhavan) shutdown to affect water supply of Dhantoli zone, Hanuman Nagar, part of Gandhibagh, Sataranjipura and Mangalwari zone
Nagpur: In a bid to strengthen water supply network, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have jointly planned to take a 24–hours shutdown at Governor House (Raj Bhavan) Old and New MBR (Master Balancing Reservoirs) on November 28.
During 24-hours shutdown that will start from Nov 28 at 9.30 am and will continue till Nov. 29 at 9.30 am, NMC-OCW will carry out installation of two 700 mm dia Butterfly valve , 600 mm dia butter fly valve and a 400 mm dia butterfly valve at Governor House MBR premises.
During the period at Pench-I WTP (water treatment plant) at Gorewada, OCW will carry out some maintenance work like maintenance of HT structure, Transformer (HT & LT), Pench-1 incomer panel maintenance, Leakage arrest BT inspection and sand removal etc.
Complete shutdown of Pench I WTP will also increase Gorewada lake level rapidly. The present Gorewada lake level is 313.0 mtr (as on Nov 26, 2014) and is increasing daily by 0.04 to 0.06 mtr.
Due to these works the water supply to ffollowing zones will be affected Dhantoli Zone, Hanuman Nagar Zone along with Mahalgi Nagar ESR, Gandhibag Zone (Part) Satranjipura (Part) and Mangalwari Zone (Part)
Tanker movement will also not be possible as it will be a big shut down area.
The water supply will be normalised on Nov 29, evening.
As there will be no water supply to Dhantoli zone, Hanuman Nagar, part of Gandhibagh, Sataranjipura & Mangalwari zone during shutdown period , OCW Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sanjoy Roy has appealed citizens of these areas to store sufficient water for their use and co-operate with NMC and OCW.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted. Citizens are requested to take a note and co-operate with NMC-OCW.
