NMC-OCW to plug major leakage on Kanhan-1300 line at Pili Nadi on Sept. 2 (Thursday)

Water supply with low pressure will resume on Sept 3 (Friday ) @ 5 pm in evening hours supply areas.

Nagpur: In a bid to save potable water going waste from a major leakage that developed on Kanhan WTP- 1300 dia main pipeline at backside of Sai Mandir on Pili Nadi area, The Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Orange City Water have planned to take 24- hours Kanhan WTP shutdown to plug that leakage on September 2 (Thursday).

It may be mentioned here, following some unavoidable technical reasons the shutdown has been postponed to Sept 2 (Thursday). During 24-hours, technical work like leakage plugging work @ Pili Nadi area, Sakkardara Outlet Work & Babulban ESR outlet FM installation work will start from Sept 2 (Thursday) from 10 am and will conclude on September 3 (Friday ) @ 10 am.

After completion of technical work, it will take a few more hours to clear the air trapping and restore the flow at ESR’s inlet & the actual water supply in the affected areas, which too with low pressure will resume only after 5 pm in the evening hours slot of consumers on Sept 3 (Friday). Regular water supply with low pressure in affected areas will resume from Sept 4 (Saturday) for next 48 hours.

As leakage plugging is an important task in a bid to save potable water & reduce non-revenue water (NRW), NMC & OCW has appealed citizens from above-mentioned affected areas to co-operate and store sufficient water for their use in advance.

Along with leakage plugging work few other major works will also be carried during Kanhan- 1300 shutdown like :

1. Sakkardara ESR Outlet Work

2. Babulban ESR outlet FM installation work

Following this 24-hours shutdown, water supply in almost 28 ESR’s from 4 zones of Satranjipura, Lakadganj, Aasinagar and Nehru Nagar zone shall remain affected. Further as 28 ESR’s will remain empty, water supply through Tankers will also be not possible during and after shutdown in affected areas.

Water supply from 28 ESR (Overhead water Tanks) to remain affected during shutdown are:

AshiNagar Zone : Bezonbagh ESR , Binaki -Existing , Binaki-1&2 , Indora-1&2, Bazonbagh, Gamdoor DT, Aaakashwani DT, & Jaswant Talkies DT ESR command areas

Satranjipura Zone: Bastarwadi-1 , 2A & 2B ,Shanti Nagar ESR, Wanjari (Vinoba Bhave Nagar) , Itabhatti Square DT,

Nehru Nagar Zone: Nandanvan (Old), Nandanvan I, II, , Sakkardara, I, II, III, Tajbagh ESR & Kharabi ESR.

Lakadganj Zone: Bhandewadi, Deshpande Lay Out (Bharatwada), Lakadganj, Minimata Nagar, Subhan Nagar ESR, Kalamana ESR and Pardi I & Pardi II

Citizens are requested to take a note that during and after shutdown at Kanhan WTP, Water supply through Tankers will also be not possible in the affected areas. NMC & OCW has appealed citizens from above-mentioned affected areas to co-operate and store sufficient water for their use in advance.
