If property tax is paid before November, 4% discount will be given to citizens
Nagpur: In order to encourage conservation of water and tackle shortage in future, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has offered concession in property tax to those citizens who install rain water harvesting system and use solar power.
The civic body has said that the citizens who install rain water harvesting system, use solar power, use vermicompost, generate compost from solid waste and implement other such eco-friendly projects can avail 5 to 10 percent concession in general property tax. The information was shared by Assistant Commissioner (Tax Assessment) Milind Meshram on Wednesday. “Citizens implementing any one of the projects would be offered 5 percent discount in general tax. If more than one projects are implemented, the tax concession would be 10 percent. Moreover, if property tax of current year is paid before November, 4 percent concession in general tax will be provided. Citizens should implement maximum projects to avail concession in general taxes,” Meshram appealed.

Meshram further said that till now 663 citizens have received tax concession for rain water harvesting, 2013 citizens for use of solar power, 48 citizens for generation of vermicompost, and 443 citizens for reuse of sewage water.
“Now, for new construction, rain water harvesting is mandatory. While submitting building map, a certificate of architect for rain water harvesting system is also mandatory,” Meshram stressed.
