Nagpur: On Independence Day, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) reaffirmed its commitment to improving the lives of citizens by delivering quality services and developing essential infrastructure. Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of NMC, emphasized this during the flag hoisting ceremony at the NMC headquarters.
The event, held on Thursday, August 15, saw Dr. Chaudhary inspecting a parade by the NMC’s fire department personnel and addressing the assembled officers, employees, and citizens. He expressed confidence in Nagpur’s contribution to India’s growing economy, which is currently the fifth largest in the world and poised to become a $5 trillion economy.
Dr. Chaudhary highlighted several welfare schemes and projects being implemented by the NMC in collaboration with central and state governments. These include the Sewage Treatment Project, AMRUT 2.0, electric buses, and scholarship programs for girls in NMC schools. Additionally, he mentioned initiatives like the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bhagin’ scheme, the Vayoshree scheme, and the Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaushalya Yojana, which are aimed at providing various facilities and opportunities to citizens.
Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Kaushalya Yojana, 263 trainees have already been appointed by the NMC, with more appointments to follow soon. Dr. Chaudhary assured that as the city’s guardian institution, the NMC remains committed to serving citizens through various initiatives.
Prominent officials present at the event included Additional Commissioner Mrs. Anchal Goyal, Additional Commissioner Mr. Ajay Chartankar, Chief Engineer Mrs. Leena Upadhye, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Mr. Sadashiv Shelke, and Deputy Commissioners Mr. Prakash Varade, Mr. Milind Meshram, Dr. Gajendra Mahalle, and Dr. Ranjana Lade.
Tree Plantation at NMC
As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign under the National Clean Air Program, a tree plantation drive was conducted by Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, Mrs. Anchal Goyal, Mr. Ajay Chartankar, and other dignitaries.
NMC Employees Present Patriotic Songs
In celebration of Independence Day and the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, a ‘Tiranga Concert’ was organized at the NMC headquarters. With support from V5 Entertainment Studio, NMC employees delivered a captivating performance of patriotic songs, including ‘Dekho Veer Jawano’. The performance featured engineers and employees such as Mr. Nitin Zhade, Mr. Ashish Usarbasse, Mr. Jawahar Nayak, Mrs. Pushpa Jog, Mr. Subhash Bairisas, Mr. Prakash Kalsiya, Mr. Kamalakar Manmode, Mr. Dheeraj Shukla, and Mr. Bhupendra Tiwari.
