The main Dhammachakra Pravartan Day ceremony will take place at Deekshabhoomi on Saturday, October 12. In light of the large number of Buddhist followers expected to visit Deekshabhoomi to pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar during the Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, from October 11 to 14, NMC has arranged for all necessary facilities for the visitors.

NMC has established four health check-up centres along the roads leading to Deekshabhoomi, 24-hour ambulance services, arrangements for clean drinking water, deployment of over 800 sanitation workers, a control room near the Sahitya Bhushan Annabhau Sathe Memorial for assistance, a fire brigade team, provision of toilets, shelter, lighting arrangements, CCTV cameras for security, transport facilities, and fire safety measures.

Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Aanchal Goyal, NMC officers have been assigned responsibility to ensure the smooth implementation of these arrangements as directed by Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari. Lakhs of Buddhist followers from across the country visit Deekshabhoomi, and NMC’s entire system is working diligently to ensure that no visitor faces any inconvenience with basic amenities.

Directional signs have been placed at various points along the routes leading to Deekshabhoomi. Additionally, special Aapli Bus services have been arranged by NMC’s Transport Department for followers travelling to Deekshabhoomi or the Dragon Palace in Kamptee, and a bus station is being set up at Kachipura Chowk for this purpose.

800 sanitation workers deployed, 120 taps installed

To maintain cleanliness in the Deekshabhoomi area, garbage bins have been placed at several locations. A total of 800 sanitation workers have been deployed across three shifts. Additionally, 120 taps have been installed along the Deekshabhoomi routes to provide clean drinking water. NMC has constructed a 10,000 sq. ft. waterproof shelter/rest house at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI). In case of emergencies, nearby schools will also be used for shelter.

More than 950 toilets available

To address basic sanitation needs, NMC has set up over 950 separate toilets for men and women in the ITI area, near the office of the Deputy Director of Health (Mata Kacheri), and in Nagpur Central Jail premises. Additionally, 50 bathing facilities, 25 each for men and women, have been arranged in the ITI area. A 24-hour control room near the Sahitya Bhushan Annabhau Sathe Memorial has been set up to address any issues faced by visitors, and officers have been assigned responsibilities for its smooth functioning.

Dispose of waste in garbage bins, not on roads

NMC is fully prepared to provide facilities to all Buddhist followers visiting Deekshabhoomi. Visitors are encouraged to make use of these facilities. They are also requested to avoid using plastic items and to cooperate with the sanitation workers by disposing of garbage only in the designated bins rather than littering on roads or elsewhere. NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari has urged citizens to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and to cooperate with the NMC administration.
