NMC resolves 18,953 of 19,512 civic complaints filed in 2023

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is struggling to resolve 274 citizens complaints as the same requires substantial funds which the civic body is currently lacking. However during the year 2023, the civic body resolved 18953 out of 19512 complaints it received through various channels during the year.

The information was presented in the meeting of NMC officials regarding civil complaints chaired by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari at NMC Conference hall on Thursday. In the meeting, Dr Chaudhari instructed the NMC officials to prioritise resolving civic problems in the stipulated time period. It was also informed in the meeting that 559 complaints are under process and further funds are required for redressal of 274 grievances.

The meeting was informed that 13016 complaints were redressed by the NMC within the prescribed period. The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to citizens to register their complaints through ‘My Nagpur’ App. Anchal Goyal and Ajay Charthankar, Additional Commissioners; Leena Upadhaye, Chief Engineer; Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Commissioner; Manoj Talwar, Dr Shweta Banerjee, Superintending Engineer; Dr B P Chandankhede, Chief Fire Officer; Dipak Selokar, Medical Health Officer; Milind Meshram, Prakash Varade; both Deputy Commissioners; Narendra Bavankar; and Ganesh Rathod, Assistant Commissioners, were present among other officers and employees.

In the meeting Municipal Commissioner directed the officials and employees to properly plan for solving the citizens’ issues and also to follow up the proceedings of the pending complaints regularly; and to implement the complaint redressal system at the civic headquarters. Dr Chaudhari also asked all zonal officers and heads of departments to pay attention to the grievance redressal system and ensure that there is no laxity in the work. They should give immediate notices to the employees who are lax in their work, and strict action should be taken against them if they do not get a satisfactory answer from them.
