Nagpur: Dharampeth Zone of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Monday seized 136 plots of defaulting owners in Ward No 68 of Mauza Dabha who failed to pay the Property Tax dues. The plots belonged to Sant Jagnade Maharaj Coop Housing Society, Mauza Hazaripahad, Priti Coop Housing Society and Shri Sai Sewashram Coop Housing Society in the Ward. The seizure of plots was done under the Section 128(4) of Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act.
The owners of the 136 plots owed the pending dues of Property Tax amounting to Rs 87.81 lakh. The defaulters were served notices and were directed to pay the pending dues. However, they failed to clear the dues forcing the NMC authorities to seize the plots. If the plot owners fail to clear the dues within three days, the plots will be transferred in the name of NMC in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations. The seized plots would also be auctioned to recover the pending dues of Property Tax.
The seizure action was taken by Assistant Tax Assessor Kedar Mishra, Warrant Officer Arvind Dhawle, Tax Inspectors Mehrulaya, Nimgade, Swami, Tax Collectors Vandre, Deshpande, Dhok under the guidance of Zone Assistant Commissioner Rajesh Karade.
