Nagpur: Acting swiftly on the very first day of plastic ban in the State, the health department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) raided several places in the city and seized huge stocks of plastic materials on Saturday. The drive was started from hotels and restaurants and was concluded at vegetable markets.
The State government had announced complete plastic ban in the State from 23 June 2018. As per rules, the first-time offenders will be fined Rs 5,000 for possessing any plastic material. Second time the fine will be of Rs 10,000 while third-time offender will be fines Rs 25,000 with a jail term of three months.
The State government had directed citizens and plastic material manufacturers to destroy all the material before 23 June.
