Nagpur: As monsoon is at doorsteps, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has claimed that its machinery is working diligently to fill-up the potholes to ensure that citizens do not face any trouble during the rains. The Hot Mix Plant is tasked with responsibility to address the issue of potholes and ensure that before the onset of monsoon in the city.
Acting on information received from zones, the officials at Hot Mix plant dispatched material to fill-up the potholes. The officials of the civic body have drawn-up the plan to first ensure that potholes on roads having width of 12 meters and above are filled-up. This is being done as the volume of traffic on big roads is much more and hence they should be in proper shape to avoid any inconvenience to users.
Two teams are tasked with filling-up the potholes. As per NMC, about 3046.51 sq.mtrs of roads have been tarred to address the issue of washing away of mortar, breakage and potholes. The same was done from May 27 to June 1 in six out of ten zones of NMC. During the period, the Hot Mix Plant retarred road stretch from Friends Colony to Neem Park in Dhantoli Zone; Fire Engineering College to Katol Octroi Post; White Bungalow to Ring Road to Ganesh Nagar, Wasnik College to DPS.
In Nehru Nagar Zone, the road stretches including that of Ramana Maroti to Prabhu Nagar, Ramana Maroti Road to J P Convent, Umred road to Bhagwati ITI College and another stretch till Navnath ITI, Umred Road to Gas Godown, Chamat Hall to Khapri Square and ahead till Hasanbagh and till Sant Gora Kumbhar Square. Similarly, from Hasanbagh to Shrikrishna Nagar to Hasanbagh Police outpost to Canal Road to Sakore Square, Vrundavan Nagar to KDK College Road, Shitala Mata Mandir to Hasanbagh Square, Nandanvan Cement Road to Pandav College Road.
In Lakadganj Zone, Sarja Bar to Gulmohar Nagar, Kamna Nagar to Kalamna ghat, Chhapru Nagar to Vaishnodevi Square, Ashi Nagar to Kalam Square to NIT Square, Kamptee Road to Pande Vasti to Jaiswal Celebration to Ambedkar Garden, NIT Square to Samarpan Hospital, Vaishali Nagar Square to Ambedkar Garden, Power Grid Square to Kabir Nagar Square, Armour Tower to Samta Nagar bridge to Sugat Nagar, Vishwadeep Buddha Vihar to Industrial Area.
In Mangalwari Zone, the Gondwana Square, Kadbi Square to Anuja Apartment, Clarke Town, Bezonbagh ground road, Mangalwari flyover road, Mangalwari Bazaar/Complex Road, Jaripatka Indora Road, Kamptee Road, Kingsway Road-DRM office, Patankar Square to Tathagat Square.
Apart from that the Hot Mix plant has also retarred 55 roads across the city, that has provided smooth riding surface to the commuters. Though the work on filling-up of the potholes is on, many stretches still remain to be repaired.
