A team of NMC recently visited all three water bodies — Kolar River, Kanhan River and Koradi artificial tank to check their condition. As per the sources, Koradi artificial tank is 60 ft wide and 150 ft long. The depth of the tank is enough for 10 ft idols. The civic body is planning to make arrangements for the immersion of big idols in this tank. Whereas, the idols above 10 ft will be immersed in Kanhan and Kolar rivers and the administration will arrange cranes for lifting of idols at both immersion sites.

The district administration is emphasising on small idols of 4 ft in this festival season and also appealing mandals for the same. The civic body will erect eight artificial tanks at Empress Mill land near Vande Mataram Garden for immersion of small idols of Mahal and nearby areas. Due to ongoing construction and renovation work in Gandhi Sagar, Sakkardara, Sonegaon and Futala lakes, the civic body has banned the immersion of idols at all the four lakes.

NMC had also called a meeting of NGOs of the city for their support to achieve eco-friendly Visarjan. The meeting was chaired by Ram Joshi, Additional Commissioner and was conducted by Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Deputy Commissioner and Director, Solid waste Management. NMC will place 350 artificial tanks across Nagpur for immersion of Ganesh idols of height up to 4 feet. Various NGOs will be present at various immersion sites to assist NMC in the task of eco-friendly Visarjan and Nirmalya collection.

Green Vigil Foundation will remain present at Vayusena Nagar side of Futala Lake, King Cobra Organisation will handle Sakkardara Lake, Eco-Friendly Foundation at Ramnagar, Centre For Sustainable Development (CFSD) at Sonegaon, Tejaswani Mahila Mandal at Empress Mill, Green Earth Organisation at Sonegaon lake and Nisarg Vigyaan at Gandhi Sagar.

Vijay Ghuge, Kaustav Chatterjee, Surbhi Jaiswal, Arvind Kumar Ratodi, Anasuya Kale Chhabrani, Vijay Limaye, Mehul Kosurkar, Kiran Mundra, Atul Pimpalkar and other representatives of different NGOs were present in the meeting.
