NMC undertakes Clean India Campaign

Swachta Abhiyan mohim  News phooto 2 Oct 2014 (4)Nagpur: Participating in the “Swachh Bharat” Mission (Clean India Campaign), launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the National Capital on October 2 to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) undertook the cleanliness campaign with great fanfare. Officials and employees of the civic body also took the “Swachh Bharat” pledge.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Hemant Pawar launched the Clean India Campaign at new administrative building of NMC at its Central Office in Civil Lines. At the outset, Hemant Pawar paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary today. Later, the officials and employees wielded brooms and cleaned the entire premises of NMC. The Heads of Departments and employees also cleaned their departments on the occasion.

Later, the Additional Municipal Commissioner Hemant Pawar and Green Vigil Foundation chief Kaustubh Chatterjee jointly administered the “Swachh Bharat” pledge to officials and activists at Rani Jhansi Square. Others who were present on the occasion include Deputy Engineer Arun Mogarkar, Zonal Health Officer P D Bambode, Assistant Superintendent Nandkishore Bhovte, Headmaster of Pannalal Devadia School Kuhite and others.

Swachta Abhiyan mohim  News phooto 2 Oct 2014 (3)Similarly, Assistant Commissioners of all zones of NMC administered the cleanliness pledge to officials and employees of their respective zones and cleaned the areas. The Clean India Campaign was also launched in all NMC schools under the supervision of Education Officer Deepak Lokhande. Prabhat Pheris were also undertaken to create awareness among citizens on importance of “Swachh Bharat” Mission.
