Nagpur: With the first quarter of the financial year nearing end, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has asked property owners not to miss the opportunity of getting 15 percent rebate on payment of property tax.
NMC has netted Rs 49.50 crore so far in the financial year 2024-25 and to encourage property owners it provides incentive for prompt payment through online mode. Maximum collection of property tax has been done in Laxmi Nagar Zone and the collection is till June 20. Still many people prefer to pay in cash mode at Zonal offices and for them the civic body offers rebate at the rate of 10 percent.
The concession is offered on the entire tax component. Hence Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari has appealed citizens to use online payment mode to get maximum benefit. Milind Meshram, Deputy Commissioner, Revenue, NMC, said that for payment of property tax till June 30, a discount of 15 percent is provided for payment through online mode. Those opting for paying tax after the first quarter would get only a 10 percent concession.
Till now 40,386 property owners from eligible 1.10 lakh taxpayers have paid their yearly property tax in one go. NMC has provided them a rebate of Rs 2.45 crore. In Laxmi Nagar Zone around Rs. 8.48 crore rebate has been provided so far followed by Rs. 4.97 crore in Dharampeth Zone and Rs. 5.95 crore in Hanuman Nagar Zone, Rs 3.28 crore in Dhantoli Zone, Rs 5.35 crore in Nehru Nagar Zone, Rs. 2 crore in Gandhibagh Zone, Rs 1.39 crore in Satranjipura Zone, Rs 4.09 crore in Lakadganj Zone, Rs 3.98 crore in Ashi Nagar Zone, and Rs 6.08 crore in Mangalwari Zone. Government offices have secured Rs 3.90 crore rebate on property tax.
