Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will appoint ‘Udyan Mitras´ (Friends of Gardens) to oversee the development and maintenance of parks and ensure better facilities for citizens. The civic body has urged Nagpurians to become ‘Udyan Mitras’ and play a role in nature conservation.
A press release stated that Nagpur city boasts numerous parks, both large and small, managed by the NMC’s Garden Department. Interested citizens can apply to become ‘Udyan Mitras’ via the website https://forms.gle/3J6td52N WrbkwvfC6 within 15 days. Detailed information and registration forms are available online.
The NMC oversees a total of 182 parks including 26 large parks and 156 medium to small parks. ‘Udyan Mitras’ will be appointed to ensure the proper functioning of park facilities, maintenance, and timely repairs, as well as to monitor park operations.
The duties of ‘Udyan Mitras’ include daily park cleaning, supervision of greenery, maintenance of green gyms and children’s play equipment, proposing park improvements, inspecting fountains, and assisting with park constructions. They will also attend monthly meetings and provide feedback as required by the NMC, Garden Superintendent Amol Chourpawar stated.
Criteria
* ‘Udyan Mitras’ should be aged between 25 and 80 years.
* More than one ‘Udyan Mitra’ may be selected per park.
* Preferably, ‘Udyan Mitras’ should reside within a 2 km radius of the park.
* ‘Udyan Mitras’ must have no criminal record (subject to police verification)
* Preference will be given to those with experience in social work or horticulture, supported by relevant certificates.
* ‘Udyan Mitras’ will be issued identity cards valid for three years.
