Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has appealed to women in Nagpur to apply for the State Government’s newly launched Pink e-Rickshaw Scheme which is aimed at providing opportunity for self-employment to women.
The scheme is targeted at ensuring safe transportation for needy women as these rickshaws will be run exclusively for women. Emphasising the importance of the initiative, Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Municipal Commissioner, said that women should take benefit of this scheme. Additional Municipal Commissioner Anchal Goyal is Nodal Officer for supervising implementation of the scheme through Women and Child Welfare Department of NMC.
The scheme prioritises women residents of Maharashtra with a family income below Rs 3 lakh, including widows and those with orphan certificates. Eligible applicants must be aged between 18 and 35 years, and should have a driving license. The selected women will receive training along with a PSVA badge. They will also get financial assistance covering 70% of the vehicle cost, with repayment period over a span of five years.
Those interested should have documents including Aadhaar, PAN, Domicile certificate, income certificate, bank details, and driving license. Dr Chaudhari has appealed to women to apply and avail benefit from this opportunity.
