As per rules, a government employee is suspended if he is in police custody for more than 48 hours. The suspension order was issued 10 days after Uchake’s arrest. This information was given by a senior official of the NMC. Due to non-availability of official information with the Municipal Corporation, suspension action could not be taken.
Based on the media reports, a letter was sent to Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police and information about the arrest was sought. The suspension order was issued on Monday after receiving an official information letter from the police. Deputy Chief Fire Officer B. P. Chandankhede has been entrusted with the additional charge of Chief Fire Officer in place of Uchake.
