As far as nominated member of Congress is concerned, the matter is pending in the High Court. The issue of Congress Group leader and Leader of Opposition is also pending in the court. The next hearing is slated on June 7, 2017. Only after the final ruling by the court, all these issues would get settled.
However, Congress Corporator Praful Gudadhe Patil demanded the Mayor to declare Kishore Jichkar as the nominated member from Congress quota since the High Court has not in any way put restriction on this issue. But the former Congress Group leader Sanjay Mahakalkar intervned and said that the decision should be kept in abeyance till the final ruling of the High Court. Another Congress member Manoj Sangole warned that if Jichkar is nominated before the ruling of the court, the presiding officer could invite wrath of the High Court. Hence the issue of nominated member from Congress quota should be kept pending.
Congress had filed nomination forms of two members — Vikas Thakre and Kishor Jichkar. Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar has appointed Tanaji Vanve as Congress group leader. Vanve has submitted name of Kishor Jichkar while Sanjay Mahakalkar has given name of Vikas Thakre.
