Nagpur: Cracking the whip, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4) Ishu Sindhu put the two corrupt constables of Nandanvan Police Station under suspension while another one was sent to Police Headquarters.
According to sources, the three police constables, Kishore Gargave, Rajesh Chimote and Sunil, attached to Nandanvan Police Station faced the harsh action as they had, on December 28 last, doled out threats and forcibly took Rs 4000 from a couple. Shocked by the scary tactics of the policemen, the couple had lodged a complaint with the DCP Ishu Sindhu albeit two days after the incident. Taking the matter seriously, the DCP initiated cross enquiry into plaint and prima facie found truth in the incident. Subsequently, the DCP put his foot down and on December 31, ordered suspension of police constables Kishore Gargave and Rajesh Chimote. At the same time constable Sunil was sent to Police Headquarters.
Talking to Nagpur Today, the DCP asserted that stern action will be taken if such complaints come to his notice in future as well. “Nobody will be spared. Appropriate action will be initiated. A message should go that if a policeman indulges in corrupt practices then he would face the action,” averred the DCP. He confirmed the suspension of two cops and a further probe by an ACP. Now, the guilty policemen would face departmental enquiry.
