Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Wathoda police has arrested multiple suspects involved in a series of robberies across the city, where they threatened victims with knives. However, the notorious criminal Afzar Anda remains at large, and the police have launched an extensive search to apprehend him. DCP Zone 4, Rashmita Rao, provided details during a press conference.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kunal Suresh Hemne (27), a resident of Azad Nagar; Vishal alias Phalli Prithvilal Gupta (22), from Shravan Nagar; and Sujit Bhau Rao Gharde (23), from Ramnagar. During a search, police recovered two pistols, live cartridges, sharp weapons, and a car from the suspects.
According to the complaint lodged by Arif Inayat Khan Pathan (28), a resident of Alishan Nagar, on October 12, the accused forced him to hand over ₹10,000 related to a contract in the Rishi Khosla murder case. The assailants also verbally abused his father and wife. Following the complaint, the police arrested the three suspects from the Hingna area.
Interestingly, Arif Pathan, the complainant, is also an accused in the Rishi Khosla murder case. Based on his complaint, the police filed charges against the accused and began further investigations. All arrested individuals are currently in police custody until October 19, as confirmed by DCP Rao.
Further investigation is underway to trace the fugitive Afzar Anda.
