Nagpur: Revenue and Forests Department on Monday issued a notification vide which now those in Nagpur district can register any document at any of the Joint Sub-Registrar offices in the city and Nagpur Metropolitan Region (NMR) areas.
In Nagpur city, there are seven offices for city areas and only two offices for rural areas in Nagpur Metropolitan Region. For the past some time, there was a pressure of registration of documents in rural areas, said sources. Now, with the concurrent jurisdiction notification, any document can be registered at any of the nine offices for Nagpur city or NMR areas.
This decision will reduce the pressure on two Joint Sub-Registrar offices in NMR areas, and people can register their documents at the office of their choice even in Nagpur city. Satyanarayan Bajaj, Deputy Secretary, signed the notification. As per the notification, with effect from July 1, 2024, the State Government has altered the limits of the Sub-District of Nagpur district (rural). For the purpose, the Government has amended the earlier notification issued on October 31, 2005.
The latest development provides ease of registration of documents to the people. Earlier, since there were only two Sub-Registrar offices in NMR areas, and there was pressure, people used to face some difficulties. Now, that pressure will get distributed and registrations are expected to be done expeditiously.
Krishna Khopde, East Nagpur MLA, thanked Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister; and Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Revenue Minister, for the decision. In a press release issued on Monday late evening, he stated that previous conditions of registration of plot, house, or agricultural land at specific Sub-Registrar offices led to corruption and difficulties to people. But, with the latest decision, people will get relief, he added.
