NSUI stages protest over Nagpur University’s admission process

Nagpur: Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is yet again in news and yet again for a negative cause. The National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest in front University over its admission process, which is causing trouble to a lot of students.

NSUI said the semi-centralized process is not favourable to the students and they are suffering from the chaos created by the university. The university had published a list of colleges and universities on its website, a month ago which, since then, has not been updated. As a result, the students are being denied admission in various colleges. What brings a suspicion to the matter is the fact that no information related to spot admissions and number of vacant seats has been uploaded on the website.

As alleged by NSUI members, colleges are not declaring the number of seats so that they can be sold in exchange of money later. If that be the case, several deserving students will be denied admission for a handful amount of money. The demands for a probe in the matter were being raised for a long time now. However, the university management has not taken any strict steps in this regard, as a consequence of which the protest was carried out.
