Nagpur News : The big budget of ` 313 crore proposed by Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) awaits perusal until February 6. It was decided by RTMNUofficials that a meeting of the management council (MC) will be held on Wednesday to discuss the budget proposal.
However, after local media ( including Nagpur Today ) published a report that NU was in haste for getting the budget approved, officials of university changed the agenda at the eleventh hour. They excluded budgetary discussions from the meet.
Sources informed that before the meet, governor nominated MC member Dr Sanjay Khadakkar, met the vice chancellor (VC) Dr Vilas Sapkal suggesting that budgetary discussions should be postponed. Stating norms to the VC, he suggested that the budget be excluded from the agenda.

A special meeting for the purpose of discussion over budget proposal should be held later, he suggested. Sources informed that a copy of the budget will be provided to all in the meeting slated to be held on February 6. The proposal will be again tabled in senate meeting which will be held in March. As per sources, this was NU’s attempt to get the proposal approved in haste.
Medals winners to be felicitated. It was proposed during the meet that sportspersons of state and national level representing NU should be felicitated.
Sources informed that NU has decided to formulate a policy for felicitation of medal winners. For this, a committee will be constituted in the coming days.
