Number of students appearing for Std XII exam decrease this year

Nagpur News : State Government is working hard to encourage the students to study and claims to be working for the same. But, the figure tells a different story. The number of students appearing for Maharashtra State Primary and Secondary Board Std XII has decreased by 10,000 this year while there is minimal difference in the figures of and Std X. Going with the figures, in 2012-2013, a total number of 1,65,960 students will appear for Std XII while in in 2011-12, the figure was around 1,75,000. However, there is not much difference in the figures of Std X students. In 2012-2013, number of students appearing for examinations is 2,06,773.

Sources said that many students appear for Std X examinations in Summer and Winter examinations. Students prefer for vocational course on the basis of Std VIII and skips Std XII examination. They informed that for Std XII this year, 1,36,307 are fresh students while 29,653 students are repeaters. Out of which 79,611 are male and 81,349 are female. The number of students to appear for Science stream examination is 53,140, while number of students to appear for Arts and Commerce is 79,800 and 24,652 respectively. Number of students appearing from MCVC is 8, 386. Total number of centres is 383.

Sources said that On January 31, ID cards will be distributed to the schools.

Total number of students appearing for regular course of Std X is 1,77,264 while number of students repeating their term is 27,754 and 1,775 students will appear privately for the examinations. Out of these, 1,06,056 are male while 1,00,717 are female. Centres available for these examinations are 652. ID cards will be distributed to the schools on February 8.
Chandramani Borkar, President, Maharashtra State Board (Regional), informed that students can complaint if they face any problem regarding management on the examination centres.
