Nagpur: The Old Kamptee Police have booked Pramod Manmode, Secretary of Nirmal Ujjwal Credit Cooperative Society Limited (NUCCSL), Sachin Prakash Bomble, Manager, NUCCSL, Kamptee Branch, and Shailesh Kochankar, one of the bank employees, for allegedly defrauding a woman and her father to the tune of Rs 3 lakh. A resident of Ranala, Old Kamptee, Karuna Yuvraj Wasnik has filed a complaint in this regard.
The accused Manmode, Bomble and Kochankar have been booked on charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and forgery following a complaint lodged by the victim, Karuna Wasnik (40), a resident of Plot No 05, Ranala, Kamptee, on Sunday.
Karuna stated in her complaint that the accused trio lured her to invest money at NUCCSL’s Kamptee branch by promising high rates of interest. In 2018, she invested Rs 3.50 lakh as fixed deposit (FDs) while her father, who retired from coal mines, invested Rs 5 lakh. Later, she came to know that Manmode had fraudulently obtained a loan of Rs 4.50 lakh against her father’s FDs. After she insisted, Manmode, Bomble and Kochankar returned her Rs 6 lakh but duped her of Rs 3 lakh.
Karuna further stated that the accused Shailesh Kochankar, an employee of the bank, opened a savings account in the name of Karuna and her father in the bank and gave a check book in 2018. After that, an FD of Rs 5 lakh for Karuna was made through Sachin Bomble. Also, three FDs of Rs 1 lakh rupees and Rs 50,000 totalling Rs 3.30 were made for Karuna. However, the original certificates of these FDs were not given to Karuna on the pretext of some bank formalities, police said.
When Karuna contacted Sachin Bomble as she did not receive the money, Bomble gave her two cheques. However, as these cheques bounced too, she contacted Pramod Manmode. He also promised to sell Sachin Bomble’s property and pay her Rs 1 lakh every month. After that, Sachin Bomble deposited an amount of 6 Rs lakh into the account of Karuna. However, the remaining Rs lakh were not returned.
On the basis of the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 120(b), 406, 420, 409, 467,468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code against accused Manmode, Bomble and Kochankar. Further investigations are underway.
