Nagpur: The 50 odd passengers of Nanded-Nagpur Bus of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation had a narrow escape as it was the driver who provided the answer to their prayers. For, the ST bus driver used all his skill, presence of mind and courage to save his bus from falling into a 50-feet deep river bed.
According to the reports, the Nanded-Nagpur bus (MH20-BL-1605) was heading towards Nagpur carrying 50 passengers on Saturday. As it climbed the river bridge in Nandgavan Ghat, a cement mixer truck hit the bus from behind. Due to the impact, the driver lost control over the bus but regained it in no time to manoeuvre it towards the wall of the bridge thus saving the bus from falling 50 feet below.
As a consequence of the driver’s manoeuvre the bus did not fall but was precariously dangling in the air. The screams of passengers alerted people nearby who rushed to their help. A JCB machine, working nearby, was immediately called for help. The passengers meanwhile were holding hands and praying after coming so close to calamity. All 50 passengers and the driver were then brought out to safety.
